Rasul Learning Admissions Assistance Scholarship

The Rasul Learning Admissions Assistance Scholarship is central to our commitment to give back to the communities in which we live. Every year, we select one student who demonstrates leadership in academics, athletics, fine arts, and/or community service, as well as need for our services to guide them through the American college application process.

Students seeking admission to U.S. colleges are welcome to apply. Services covered by the Scholarship include: planning and academic counselling, CV development, hands-on application assistance, interview preparation, and “profile packaging” services. Students with particular demonstrated need may also be eligible for complimentary standardized test preparation, subsidized college tour and interview travel, tutoring support in school subjects, and/ or other specialized services offered by RLG. Here’s what Kais said about his RLG experience:

I cannot even begin to describe how amazing of an experience I had working with Zahra and Salima over the course of my application process. The first thing they said to me when we started working together was that the U.S. college application experience is a transformative one. In all honesty, this didn’t really make sense to me at first – I did not understand how merely filling out an application could have an impact on me. Zahra and Salima taught me how the amount of reflection and self-awareness required to sum up who you are as a person in a single application can be transformational to how you understand yourself and that this quality in itself is what prestigious universities are looking for in applicants.

I have to say that before working with them, I did have preconceived notions surrounding “private counsellors” and “educational consults”. I associated private counsellors with “gaming the system” and getting kids into schools that they may not have deserved to get into. I could not have been more wrong. Zahra and Salima literally do the exact opposite: they showed me the importance of introspection in depicting myself as accurately as possible to the admissions officers who would be reading my applications – no one else had ever explained this to me on such a personal level and if I hadn’t worked with Zahra and Salima, I don’t think anyone ever would have. This was the single most valuable lesson I learnt from them and not only did they frequently emphasize its importance to me, but they guided me along my own personal journey.

Meeting with Zahra and Salima always felt more like having lunch with two big sisters as opposed to working on a stressful, life-changing application. They took the pressure out of the whole application process by providing highly specific and individual advice that only comes from a genuinely close relationship. They take the time to get to know you as a person and in doing so they develop sincere bonds with you.

Having spoken to probably hundreds of people who claim to be knowledgable about the U.S. college admissions process, I have yet to meet anyone who comes close to possessing the in-depth knowledge that Zahra and Salima have. As a current freshman at Harvard, I can confirm that the things they told me to anticipate in college were all completely accurate.

I probably have never met two more accessible people in my entire life. Their response times were incredible whether it was email, text, phone calls, or Skype. What was even weirder, though, was that their busyness was never visible to me; even though I knew their schedules were packed, they always made me feel like I was their only student.

If you’re interested in applying to the states, working with Zahra and Salima is the best decision you can make and I highly recommend their services. They will give you advice on the U.S. application process that is extremely rare to come by in Canada and it would be a shame not to take advantage of the knowledge they offer.

  • National Champion, Coxwain Varsity Rowing

  • Amazing young man who will change the world

Here’s what Hafiz said about the RLG experience:

Zahra and Salima have had a profound impact on my life. Even though I was on a full scholarship for their services I never once felt that her time or attention was limited. In fact, she invested more in me than I dreamed was possible, and it paid off when I was accepted Early Action to Princeton. When I needed advice, Zahra was always a phone call or email away, and her response times were absolutely incredible especially considering her busy schedule.

To be honest, initially I was skeptical about the idea of using an “education consultant”. Now having worked with Zahra and Salima, I can tell you that you simply cannot get the level of highly individualized in-depth guidance they provide, anywhere else. They know what to highlight in your profile and how to help you stand out from the tens of thousands of other applicants. Interestingly enough, working with Zahra felt less like working with a ‘consultant’, and more like working with a committed mentor. Her balanced approach and practical advice are unparalleled and invaluable.

Not only do I recommend Zahra’s services, I would urge you to work with her as soon as you can in the process. I began working with Zahra at the end of my Grade 11 year, and certainly would have benefited from starting earlier. I have the upmost respect and admiration for Zahra, and I would highly, highly recommend her services through such an important decision making and application process.

Working with Zahra and Salima was the best decision I ever made, and I am certain you will feel the same way.
